Jane and Woody McIntire arranged for the Chapter to hold our annual summer picnic in the EAA Shelter house at the Delaware Municipal Airport (KDLZ). You couldn't ask for better weather or a better venue for this year's fly-in/drive-in picnic!
Woody brought his own personal Space-Age Cooker to the airport, and grilled brats and his signature burgers for us once again. We all enjoy Woody's recipe for his specially compounded burgers. Parked on the ramp in the background are (a) Nelda and John Lane's Cessna 172 (the Red Hawk) who flew up from Lebanon's Warren County airport, bringing Marilynn Miller with them, and (b) Joanne Austin and Glenn Sproat's Mooney M20, who flew in from Greene County airport with Janet Barnard. Joanne and Glenn are still getting accustomed to the new Aspen Pro Primary Flight Display they've recently installed in their Mooney. |

Here's the food table being set up, with a big cluster of 99s and 49½s. In the foreground are Lori Robishaw by the drink coolers, Mary Biller and Jo-Ann Prater at the far end of the table, as Dawn Valasco and Meredith Frederick work the near end of the table. |
Marilynn Miller shares an anecdote with Jim Prater and John Lane, while Nelda Lane listens to some kind of aviation tale Glenn Sproat appears to be spinning. |
Here's an overall view of the table-seating area in the shelter house as the food table is continuing to be set up. Janie McIntire is in the kitchen area of the shelter house, Dawn Valasco is talking across the table to Paula Hook, while Jo-Ann Prater, Mary Biller, Myra Jamison, Janet Barnard, Paula Rumbaugh, Hal Noltimier, and Joanne Austin-Sproat are all in the upper right corner of the picture. |
We don't remember what Joanne was telling Hal here, but it must have been about something that was this big. |
Janet Barnard, Paula Hook, and Mary Biller shared some pictures while Woody took a brief drink-break from his grilling station. |
Meredith Frederick, Paula Rumbaugh, and Paula Hook. |
Myra borrowed Ray Copeland's camera to snag a quick shot of Nelda, Glenn, and Ray, with Glenn and Nelda's airplanes both in the background. |
At the food table in the distance, Nelda Lane, Connie Copeland, Janie McIntire, Meredith Frederick, Jo-Ann and Jim Prater, Glenn Sproat and Janet Barnard are filling their plates, while in the foreground Hal Noltimier, Mary Biller, Paula Rumbaugh, Myra Jamison, John Lane, Joanne Austin-Sproat, Marilynn Miller, Dawn Valasco and Lori Robishaw are busily tying into their loaded plates. |
Woody wasn't really eating alone in isolation. The others simply hadn't joined him yet at one of the back tables. |
Jack and Marjorie Anderson would have been here sooner if the automobile traffic had been a little better. But that's OK, Jack; anybody with a food basket is always welcome anytime at our picnics! |
This is a better picture of Jack, after he lost the sunlight glare. |
Paula Hook, Jim Prater, Marjorie Anderson, and Jo-Ann Prater in the foreground. |
Dawn Valasco, Lori Robishaw, Nelda Lane, Marilynn Miller, all were busily absorbed with their food, while only Jack Anderson took the time out to pose for this picture. |
