Scioto Valley 99 Christmas Party

Sue and Mike Messina again this year hosted the annual pot-luck Christmas Party for the Scioto Valley Chapter of the Ninety Nines.  Sue and Mike, along with daughters Sarah and Abby, spared no effort in decorating their home for the occasion, preparing a large ham along with snacks, a bowl of punch and a big vat of hot wassail to ward of the winter chill.  We found the wassail so effective that we warded off the chill repeatedly!

Food TableDecember 11, 2002

Here's Marilynn Miller and Janie McIntire at the food table, filling their plates with healthful vegetables and salads.  By contrast, Woody McIntire can't seem to get past the meat and potatoes.  We'll all hit the desserts later.  Our plates are filling up too fast right now.

Waiting for Santa?December 11, 2002

Abby Rice, Myra Jamison, and Charma Huddy found comfortable seating in the living room with a great view of the Christmas tree.  Or do they just have their eyes on the gifts under the tree?  No fair picking out the best ones!  Wait for the random drawing, which comes later in the evening.

Chow in the Family RoomDecember 11, 2002

Janet Barnard, Jim Prater, Janie and Woody McIntire, and Sarah Messina enjoy their plates of food in the Messina family room.

At the tableDecember 11, 2002

Why did Jim Prater move to a different room after he went back for second helpings?  Jim, you don't need to pretend you went through the line only once.  Nobody's counting!  Probably Marilynn, Jo-Ann, Terri, and Tracy think it's your first helping, anyway.

RelaxingDecember 11, 2002

Connie, Tracy Hahn, Mike and Abby Messina, and Marilynn Miller around the decorated fireplace in the family room.  That coffee can on the table is one of about twenty which will be wrapped later with cuttings from outdated aeronautical charts, and filled with cookies.

Who, Me?December 11, 2002

Amy Yersavich has that wide-eyed "caught in the act" look here, which seems to amuse Connie.  It's OK, Amy.  No one will ever know whatever it was you were doing just before we snapped this picture.  You got your arms folded into that "innocent look" just in time!  (Were you stealing cookies?)

In the background, Paula Rumbaugh, Jo-Ann Prater, Abby Rice, Janet Barnard, and Terri Vrbancic are finishing up the tasks of filling and decorating coffee cans with home-made cookies to be distributed to local Air Traffic Control facilities and Fixed Base Operators.  Three of the finished cans are visible at Amy's right elbow.
