Report of Standing Committees:
Old Business:
New Business:
• Our NCS Chairman, Cynthia Madsen, wants chapter reaction to the number
of meetings the section should have per year. Currently there are three: major
conferences in the spring and fall, and a midwinter meeting that used to be an
executive meeting but has since expanded to include anyone. Members had
considerable discussion and ultimately agreed that we would prefer one big
section meeting, with a midwinter working meeting that would be combined with
what is now the second big meeting; this working meeting would eliminate the
banquet and all the educational/entertainment planning involved in current
spring and fall meetings. Meetings will probably remain as they are now,
however, until after the 2009 International meeting in Chicago.
• Jann Bowne also mentioned a 99s fact sheet project that is being undertaken
by section member Laura Smith. Her plan is to put together something more
interesting, with “cool” facts about our members, photos, fun stories, and so
forth.
• We are also being asked for a contribution to the endowment fund. Lori
Robishaw encouraged members to consider giving as much as $500 to the
endowment, and another $500 to the 99s Museum. Lori made such a motion and
Connie Copeland seconded. The motion passed. Charma will cut checks for both.
• We then discussed ways to begin making more money for the chapter. The Fall
NCS Meeting will be in Newark, OH, so it would be an excellent time for us to
sell merchandise. Paula Hook will bring the catalog we have used in the past
to the next meeting. Additional suggestions for money-making projects were put
forward and discussed, but no decisions or motions were made.
• Charma distributed the photographs members had ordered from the fall casa
visit with the Praters in New Mexico.
• Charma also introduced a framed photograph of Amelia Earhart that she has
had for many years and is now offering up for a raffle. Her proposal is that
the proceeds go to IHS. We will have the drawing in January. Tickets are $1.00
per ticket, or six tickets for $5.00.
• Finally, members decided which area FBOs would receive our cans of homemade
Christmas cookies packed earlier in the evening. Recipients are OSU FBO and
tower (delivery by Lori), Marysville, Madison County, and Delaware (delivery
by Ray and Connie), MedFlight (delivery by Charma), Bolton (delivery by Jann),
CMH (delivery by Paula Hook), and Raton, NM, and Coshocton (delivery by
Jo-Ann).
Adjournment: Marilynn Miller moved that we adjourn the meeting, and Marjorie Anderson seconded. Meeting adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Paula Rumbaugh, for
Mary Biller, Secretary
