Minutes of the Scioto Valley 99s December 9, 2009 meeting

Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order by a hoarse Jann Bowne while the
others were collecting cookies for the tins to go to towers and FBOs.
Attendance: Marjorie Anderson and Jack, Fleda Anderson, Paula Hook, Jann
Bowne and George, Amy Yersavich, Paula Rumbaugh and Hal, JoAnn Prater and Jim,
Mary Biller, Christine Mortine, Connie Copeland and Ray.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: The minutes of the November meeting were
approved as distributed.
Treasurer’s Report: Paula reported that there was not
activity since last month. She sold an apron and mug for cash but has not
deposited the money yet. She is accepting checks made out to “Scioto Valley 99s”
for our donation to INH. She will accept donations thru the January meeting,
then write one check for the total to this charity.
Report of Standing Committees:
- Airmarking:
• No report.
- Scholarship:
• Fleda spoke to the group and said that
due to family and personal obligations she would not be able to complete her
flight training within the time proposed by the scholarship so she is
forfeiting her portion of the scholarship so someone else might use it.
- Right Seat

• No report.

Scrapbook:
• Amy had put together some pages for the
scrapbook and showed them to the members – nice job, Amy! Thanks!
Old Business:
- Nominating Committee:
• Paula Rumbaugh and Amy Yersavich
volunteered to be on the norminating committee

Nomination for George Palmer Award:
• As discussed last month, the group would
like to nominate Ray Copeland for this award since he has done so much for us
over the years. Jann had printed out the process for nominating someone for
this award and Marjorie Anderson volunteered to write it up, if Connie would
assist her. Anyone with information they think should be included should call
or email Marjorie. Application deadline is January 15
New Business:
- Cookie Tins:
• After the cans were filed
with cookies, Jann went through the list of places we take them and gals
volunteered to bring them to the various locations
Announcements:

Our Chapter Chairman, Jann Bowne, became a grandma again this month! On January
4, 2010, grandson Gabriel was born. Jann is watching her granddaughter until mom
and baby return from the hospital. Be sure to congratulate Jann when you see
her!

January 15 is the deadline for the Alice Jackson Scholarship application.
Details and the application form can be found on our website.

Paula Hook is accepting checks made out to “Scioto Valley 99s” for our donation
to INH (the medical charity JoAnn and Jim Prater volunteer for in Central
America). Paula will accept donations thru the January meeting, then write one
check for the total to this charity.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned. Christine Mortine told us
about her experiences at Flight Safety getting her commercial and multi-engine
ratings.
