Minutes of the Scioto Valley 99s February 8, 2006 meeting
Up, Up, and Away
Jann and George Bowne took friends to Muncie, IN for a Sunday brunch at
Quincys restaurant on the field.
Constance and Ray flew to Toledo airport for a luncheon.
I [Terri Vrbancic] flew in a Cherokee 180 with dual VORs and an ADF (which I
totally ignored) with a former coworker who is now retired. We left at 8am and
landed at Panama City, FL at 7:30 pm (strong headwinds). In KY we had a ground
speed of 48K. We returned 4 days later and stopped in Dayton, TN for 2 days
because of the weather in Ohio (imagine that). I had a lot of fun and both
pilots worked very well together.
Ray Copeland e-mailed a very interesting Web site to many of you. But some of
you may not have seen it. According to Ray: . . . choose from many dozens of
streaming audio feeds, and listen to ongoing ATC communications from around the
world. Always in English, of course, but be prepared for the accents to vary
from one region to another. If you need to sharpen your communications
technique, give this site a try for the listening half!
