Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order by Jann Bowne.
Attendance: Myra Jamison, Constance Copeland, Paula Rumbaugh, Jann Bowne,
Paula Hook, Jo-Ann Prater, Dawn Velasco, Fleda Anderson, Mary Biller.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: Paula Hook requested a change in the
December meeting minutes. She would like the treasurer’s report to say that the
deposit of $112.00 included $6.00 from Ohio quarters. The way it is written it
sounds like $112.00 worth of quarters was deposited. The December meeting
minutes stand approved as corrected.
Treasurer’s Report:
Membership dues are due next month.
Please let Paula know if you would like to
donate to the International Health Service.
Report of Standing Committees:
- Airmarking:
On 3/18/2009,
Mary Biller contacted Charlie Goodwin of the Columbus Port Authority to
request permission to paint a compass rose at Bolton Field. Charlie said he
would get back to us after he finds out what the FAA requirements are.
- Scholarship:
- Paula Rumbaugh presented a check to
Paula Hook from Carol Countiss for the Countiss Scholarship. The recipients
of this scholarship are Fleda Anderson and Dawn Velasco.
- Paula received two applications for the Alice Jackson Scholarship. Both
applicants are OSU students – one is studying aeronautical engineering and the
other is in accounting at Fisher College. Each student will be given $1,500.
- Paula Rumbaugh made a motion to remove $3,000 from the CD when it comes due
in March to use for the scholarships. Myra seconded the motion; all were in
favor.
- Right Seat Companion:
Jann said that EAA9 has several members whose wives are interested in taking
the Right Seat Companion class. She suggested that a subcommittee be formed to
help coordinate the program and set a date.
Old Business:
- Jo-Ann Prater asked that another notice be sent to the group regarding the
March Anniversary Dinner. She needs people to sign up as soon as possible.
New Business:
- Jann received a letter from the 99s Endowment Fund thanking us for our
contribution. Our name is on a plaque on the wall. The letter will be added to
our chapter scrapbook.
- The 99s are asking for names for the Governor’s Award and the Spinning
Prop Award. The Spinning Prop Award is for the person who flew the most hours
this past year 2/28/09. Jann has flown the most hours in our chapter. The
names of the people selected must be submitted by mail and postmarked by
3/13/09.
