Marilynn received a thank-you note from the Bolton Field manager for our Christmas cookies.

99s’ headquarters has a new brochure for prospective members.

Our Project Aware will be given at the FAA Safety Seminar at 7:00 pm at the Ohio Department of Transportation hanger.  Scioto Valley members are needed to be there several minutes before to help setup.  A poll of the members present set up the division of the meeting to:

- Charts-Janie McIntire (amended later to Betty Obara)

- Instruments Paula Rumbaugh and possibly Sue Messina

- Weather-Amy Yersavich

- How a plane flies-Marjorie Anderson

All members are needed to help with questions, map reading, etc.

Marilynn asked for a show of hands for all whom are attending the North Central Section Spring meeting April 20-22 at Gurnee, Illinois (near Chicago).  Details are in the fall Waypoint.

Janie gave a report on the Alice Jackson Scholarship Fund. She had 3 applicants.  Since an applicant was present, she had to step outside for a while-a long while. Time was spent on how much we had available and the qualifications of the ladies. $1000 each was proposed and approved  to be awarded to Emily Lloyd and Danielle Kennedy for use toward their Instrument license.

The meeting was adjourned and we were magically transported to Scotland by Myra via a slide presentation and talk.

UP, UP and AWAY

The Central Ohio Balloon Club members have made an effort to fly on the major holidays. We flew on Thanksgiving AM-16 degrees! but a glorious, crisp morning. I missed the Christmas flight but my balloon made the evening news with another pilot at the helm. We also flew New Years –my first snow flight. I loved the balloon footprints when landing and the “snow angel” of the balloon inflation, Next holiday-Valentine’s Day if the weather permits. ( New Years Day was almost a bust- the AM was IFR!)   Wendy Yost
