Report of Standing Committees:
Old Business:
• If you plan to attend the March 13 anniversary dinner, please RSVP to Jo-Ann
Prater. As Jo-Ann was not at the meeting, Marilynn said she would contact her
regarding our menu choices.
• Charma brought her picture of Amelia Earhart which included a first day
stamp and cover to be used as a raffle item. Cost of tickets is $1 each or 6
for $5. There was discussion on the idea to extend the sale of raffle tickets
to bring in more money and perhaps splitting the profits. Lori made a motion
with a second from Dawn Valasco to extend the raffle of the picture until the
March dinner, with the proceeds going to IHS and to separately collect other
items for a raffle at the August fly-in at DLZ with the profits going to the
99’s scholarship. The motion passed.
• Paula Hook brought a catalogue from a company we’ve used in the past to
order fund-raising merchandise and suggested that we order some new items to
sell at the upcoming Section Meetings and other events. Charma brought
information from an online source for insulated travel mugs as an idea. Jann
suggested that to reach a broader buyer base we could imprint the mugs with a
generic rather than 99s logo – perhaps “I’d rather be flying.” Marjorie
suggested aprons or vests as items to sell. Lori suggested that we have at
least one generic and one 99’s item to sell. A committee was set up to make
selections and report back consisting of Charma, Lori, Paula H., and Jann.
• Charma reported on her progress in obtaining new nametags for our group. The
company making the nametags will need a high resolution 99 logo to complete
the project. Lori said she will download this from the “members only” section
of the International website and forward this to Charma.
• Paula Hook had followed up on Jo-Ann’s suggestion and checked with the owner
of the Bead Shop on Sawmill Road. The owner said she’s be happy to work with
us and showed Paula several catalogues where aviation items could be ordered
and used for pendants, charms, etc. It was suggested that we combine this as a
monthly meeting and make the items we want to sell at the shop.
New Business:
• A formal “thank you” was given to Paula R. and her committee for getting
out the up-to-date membership roster. Myra and others without e-mail will need
to be sent a hard copy.
• Jann distributed registration forms for the February 23 mid-winter section
meeting in Chicago to those who might be interested in going. She had a hard
copy of the “NCS Waypoints” that had come to her via e-mail. Many others had
not received their copy so she will forward it to the group. She will also
notify the Waypoints committee of those who will need a hard copy.
Adjournment: A motion was made by Marjorie and seconded by Charma to adjourn the meeting.
Marilynn told us about her trip to Scotland and Connie served refreshments.
Respectfully submitted,
Jann Bowne, for
Mary Biller, Secretary
