Up, Up, and Away

Jann and George Bowne returned successfully from their trip to Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. They flew 33 hours on the two week trip, part of which was spent on a guided tour of Montana with instruction on mountain flying. Beautiful weather and spectacular scenery!

Paula and Hal flew to Kellys Island with their brand new folding bikes. They work - they fold, they unfold, they ride well! We biked all over Kellys, folded our bikes, packed ‘em up, and flew home!

Janie and Woody flew to Bellefontaine for a fly-in breakfast and also have flown to Auglaize Co to visit the parents.

Michelle Poppino, who has attended a couple of our meetings, received her Private Pilots License in June! Michelle, who flies out of Marysville, took her mother up as her first passenger. Congratulations, Michelle! Michelle’s work keeps her on the road a lot, and often out of the country. She sends her regards and has volunteered to help during the Section Meeting, wherever she is needed.

And we hear the following from Kama Denney: I’m in Twin Otter school for captain training at Flight Safety [in Toronto] until the 29th. Having a great time but it’s been very taxing on the brain. I will keep you posted. I was hired with Hewlett Packard and I’m hoping for GV school next year. . . . We had a storm go through last night and it made it feel like home in Ohio. I’m just across the pond and missing Ohio. .

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Myra Jamison.

Attendance: Jann Bowne, Paula Rumbaugh, Constance Copeland, Janie McIntire, Marilynn Miller, Paula Hook, Charma Huddy, Lori Robishaw, Myra Jamison, Mary Biller.

Minutes of Previous Meeting: Paula Rumbaugh moved to accept the minutes as published in the newsletter. The motion was seconded by Jann Bowne and all were in favor. The minutes stand as published.

Treasurer’s Report:  The 5013C Form has been submitted. Myra needs to give her signature to the bank so she can sign checks.

Report of Standing Committees:

Fall 2006 Section Meeting:

• Goody Bags - Janie does not have room in her condo to store the goodie bags - Myra and Jann both volunteered. Connie is crocheting scrubbies for the goodie bags. Janie has a bag of miscellaneous pens to donate for the goodie bags. Charma reported that we have about 60 Ohio quarters so far.
• Name Pouches - The name pouches Janie ordered did not come with inserts so she returned them and purchased different ones that came with both inserts and lanyards. They are 3” wide by 4” high. We decided that the designations on the name tags will be: First-timers, FWP and New 99s.
• Registration - The corrected registration form was published in the Spring/Summer Waypoint. We may need registration booths at both the airport and at the hotel Friday. Late-comers can check in at the registration desk in the morning.
• Decorations - We still need to find space shuttle models.
• Donations - Connie to contact Kroger
• Hospitality Room - Connie working on list of what we need. Since the hotel has wi-fi it would be nice to offer weather services to pilots. Janie and Paula Rumbaugh offered to supply us with a lap-top computer.
• Menus - Marjorie chose a menu for the banquet (chicken). Now we need to decide what the other meals will consist of.
• 49½ Programs
  Jann reported that the volunteers who work at Highbanks Park will not be available Saturday for a program for the 49 1/2s but she said George could take people on a hike himself. She is also checking on the possibility of a program at Sharon Woods.
• Banquet Programs - Marilynn found a print shop that will print our programs for $39.52. They will be printed on nice heavy paper. Ray has offered to do the folding.
• Raffle - Lori suggested we have a raffle. Perhaps a Rod Machado or Patty Wagstaff book, or aviation gifts donated by local companies.
• Checklist - Paula Hook will create a schematic for all of our tasks to make sure we do not forget anything.

Announcements:
Our annual Picnic will be held August 9th at Jann’s house. We decided on potluck. Jann sent a sign up sheet around.
