Up, Up, and Away:
Amy and Pete Yersavich made their second trip to Pelee Island this summer over
the July 4 weekend. The flight and customs went smoothly again, and they were
treated to seeing the Ford Tri-Motor at SKY in Sandusky. The plane was there for
an EAA event and it was a beauty.
Jann and George Bowne and daughter Karen flew to Illinois for granddaughter
Nicole’s second birthday weekend. Their return flight was via Lexington,
Kentucky, to drop off Karen.
Joanne Austin and Glenn Sproat upgraded the old Mooney with a Garmin 530 and an
Aspen Pro. They took it up for a short breakfast flight and an approach into I19
Greene County – what a wonderful instrument upgrade! Glenn flew the Mooney to
New Market, Virginia, for the upgrades and new panel. Now Joanne has a big
learning curve.
On June 16, Teresa Freeman departed Cuyahoga County Airport with the family on
board. They flew to Greencastle, Indiana, for a fuel stop and had a great lunch
at the restaurant at Dixie Chopper Air. The owner at Dixie Chopper Lawnmowers
owns the FBO, and the kids were entertained watching the Dixie chopper Mower
that had been converted to a tug. Then went on to a fuel stop in Missouri and
then a final stop at Osage Beach for a Piper Fly-In. Everyone enjoyed their stay
at Tan-Tar A Resort at Lake of the Ozarks. As a good sport, she let her husband
have the flight home.
Lori Robishaw flew commercial to Seattle in mid-June for a national arts
management conference and took a floatplane up to the San Juan Islands for a day
of whale watching. On July 6, she also had a great flight in the Bonanza of the
friend who taught her to fly up to Put In Bay from the airport in Ashtabula
County, where they grew up; he’s now the chief pilot for Hewlett-Packard.
