Up, Up, and Away:
Paula Rumbaugh and friend Dawn flew the Grumman to Manistee, Michigan, to visit
the Historical Society Museum at Arcadia. The town is the birthplace of Harriet
Quimby, and the museum has an entire room devoted to Harriet.
Constance and Ray Copeland flew to Wichita for Ray’s course and the River
Festival. They missed the last 99s meeting, but enjoyed the fun along the river
that night. They were home a few days and then flew to Walker, Minnesota, to
spend a week along Leech Lake, plant their potato crop with son Matthew and
family, and visit with friends in the area.
Teresa Freeman spend Saturday morning, June 6, as the safety pilot for her
husband as he did his holds, tracking, and six approaches to stay IFR current.
Her husband returned the favor on Sunday morning when he was her safety pilot
for her holds, tracking, and three approaches. At about 7:30 a.m., the view over
Pike County Airport (EOP) was beautiful as the fog was still in the valleys
lifting into the air. Pike County has an NDB approach. They have stocked their
FBO, and if you are interested in flying into Pike County, she can give you the
electronic code for the door to get to the snacks and restroom.
Jann Bowne flew to St. Louis Downtown Airport for her week with her
granddaughter. She and George also took Mary and Kevin Biller up to Port Clinton
for Sunday brunch at Mon Ami.
Amy Yersavich has navigated the new eAPIS system (for international GA flight
scheduling) successfully!! Ok, maybe a bit of colorful language and call to the
AOPA hotline for guidance but it worked and customs was a breeze as a result!
Amy’s and hubby Pete’s “big” international flight was all the way to Pelee
Island (about 4 miles north of the Canadian border) the weekend of May 22-24 to
do some birdwatching. The birding wasn’t as good as hoped for but they had so
much fun on the island they’re going back the weekend of July 3-5. If anyone
needs a little eAPIS navigation help, feel free to call Amy!
