Up, Up, and Away:
Janie and Woody have done some local flying to Janie’s parents and breakfast.

Jann and George flew to Muncie, IN for dinner at Katy J’s, a replacement for Vincents’ that used to be on the field. Jann and Meredith also flew to Sportys.

Jo-Ann and Jim Prater flew commercial to New Mexico. Stayed at the Casa del Gavilan for 12 days while Ohio was having rain and cold in May. N.M. was sparkling with blue skies and puffy clouds.

Connie and Ray Copeland flew a couple and their son around Ohio and ate at Bolton Field before returning to Don Scott Field. We flew to Wichita for Ray’s annual proficiency trip and the River Festival. After returning for five days we headed up to Minnesota for a week at Leech Lake.

Jann and Meredith flew to Sportys! They practiced their Cockpit Resource Management skills in preparation for the race.

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Jann Bowne at 7:30 PM.

Attendance: Paula Rumbaugh, Janie McIntire, Paula Hook, Jo-Ann Prater, Jann Bowne, Charma Huddy, Constance Copeland, Marjorie Anderson, Meredith Frederick, guest Lani Heilman, Mary Biller.

Minutes of Previous Meeting: The minutes from the May meeting were approved as published in the newsletter.

Treasurer’s Report:   Paula Hook presented the treasurer’s report. Money has been set aside for the scholarships but our available balance is getting low.

Report of Standing Committees: 

• Airmarking:
  • The touch-up of Greene County’s compass rose has been postponed due to repaving.
  •  We will try again at Bolton Field.
• Scholarship:
  • Paula Rumbaugh handed out Countiss Scholarship posters and asked for them to be distributed to local airports.
  • Some changes were made to the scholarship requirements. The website was updated to reflect the new scholarship information.
• Right Seat Companion:
  •  No report.
• Membership:
  •  No report.

Old Business:

• Our annual summer picnic will take place on August 11 at Delaware Airport. Janie has asked everyone to bring a side dish. A sign-up sheet was sent around.
• Doo-Dah Parade:
  • Sunday, July 4th The parade starts at 1:00. We will meet at the corner of Buttles and Park Street at 12:30. The following link provides important information regarding the parade route, etc. http://doodahparade.com/
  • The box pattern to make an airplane can be found on our website.
• Final ballots were given to Connie (our official delegate) to take with her to the 99s International Conference taking place in July in Hawaii.

New Business:

• Aviation Days will take place on June 26 & 27 at Delaware Airport from 8 – 5 each day. There will be war bird rides, Young Eagle rides, and intro flights from Spencer Aviation. There will also be food and airplane displays. Volunteers are needed.

Announcements:

• Jo-Ann Prater visited the site of the United Airlines Flight 93 memorial in Shanksville, PA. She left something behind from the Scioto Valley 99s and suggested this may be a good trip for our group.
• Janie reminded us that the next EAA fly-in breakfast at Delaware Airport is Saturday, June 19. Also, the trip to Lebanon to see Marilynn Miller is scheduled for Tuesday, June 29. Please let Janie know if you would like to go with her.
• The Air Race Classic takes place June 22 – 25. Jann Bowne, Christine Mortine and Meredith Frederick make up the team flying in Jann’s Cessna 182. Meredith will maintain a blog so that we can follow their adventure (the web address is forthcoming)
• We need to come up with some fundraisers.
