Approved Minutes March 13, 2002

March 13 meeting minutes

Our meeting was called to order by Marilynn Miller at the 94th Aero Squadron. What a view we had with lots of airplanes taking off and landing.

Present at the meeting were Jo-Ann Prater, Myra Jamison, Sue Messina, Abby Rice, Terri Vrbancic, Karen Holly, Constance Copeland, Ray Copeland, Marilynn Miller, Bonnie J. Miller, Woody McIntire, Janie McIntire, Betty Obara, G. Griffith, Jean Griffith, Paula Rumbaugh, Hal Noltimier, Barbara Deeds, Chuck Deeds, Charma Huddy, John Huddy, several guests who didn’t sign in and Wendy Yost.

The Feb. minutes were approved. Addendum to the Feb. meeting: we voted to have Janie McIntire order 15 medium, 5 large and 5 extra large denim shirts with the embroidered compass rose.

The treasurer’s report was given by Janie. Marilynn submitted her bills for the Project aware supplies.

Project Aware was discussed. This time we did have some publicity and still only 2 persons showed up. We may want to rethink about having it in the future.  Project aware did net some interest in our Right-Seat Companion course.

Marilynn reported on certifying members for the ground-school instructor rating.  The book is available at Lane Aviation. The book was passed around and discussed. Those who would be interested could split the book into sections and each could learn a section and teach the others.   We need ground school instructors to sign off on our Right Seat Companion course. This course will not begin until after our course May 17-19.

Posters and entry forms for the Right seat Companion course were distributed. The course deadline is April 19th.

These course committees were formed.

More information was presented by Marilynn on our Compass Rose painting at the Canon City Airport in Colorado.  Bev. Giffin says the airport management is enthusiastic about our project. The painting is scheduled for late Sept. or Oct. The aspen trees usually are in good fall colors in Sept. The nearby motel rates are $45-50. Gathering places for our group would be in Bev’s hanger, her home, the motel lobby, etc.

Janie reminded us our dues ($12) were due.

The Alice Jackson Scholarship winners-Terri Vrbancic and Karen Holly- were presented to the group. We wish them happy flying. Terri told us about her cross-country flights.

UP, UP, and AWAY

Jo-Ann Prater and Jim will be leaving for the Casa del Gavilan on the 24th of March for 2 wks. of working in the courtyard of the Casa. It’s going to be beautiful!
