Up, Up, and Away

Terri Vrbanic:  Today, just a few hours before our meeting, I took a ride in a Pitts Special and did some rolls, loops, wingovers, and a spin.  What a ride!

Betty Obara:  Last week I flew a new Eclipse Star, also went to Sun and Fun and got plenty of sun and fun!

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Betty Obara, Chairman. 

Attendance:  Wendy Yost, Paula Rumbaugh, Paula Hook, Charma Huddy, Renee Coil, Janie McIntire, Janet Barnard, Brooke Hayes, Terri Vrbancic, Tracy Hahn (guest), Mary Biller, Dana Rogers, Marjorie Anderson, Marilynn Miller, Betty Obara

Minutes:  The minutes for the April meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  The report was accepted as read by Janie McIntire.  Moved to accept by Marilynn Miller and seconded by Marjorie Anderson.

Old Business:

·         Air Race Classic:  The chapter needs to begin to collect non-perishable food and drink donations; Dana is creating a promotional flyer for ARC; Marilynn has three experienced timers to assist those who may be new to timing; there will also be some volunteers from the pilot’s club in Dayton to assist; we must arrive early each morning to prepare; the stop immediately prior to Dayton is Perie, Illinois; Kay Holting is to  have weather stations there; (although she has a broken ankle, she still plans to be available).

·         Vests with 99s insignia:  Janie still has shirts to sell.  Decision on vests was tabled until sample created.

·         Dues are to be given to Janie as  soon as possible.

·         Reminder to visit the Scioto Valley 99s website

·         Marilynn and Janie will serve as delegates to the sectional meeting

·         Outer Banks Trip:  The 7 bedroom house is full!   (Wright Brothers Re-enactment and 100 plane fly-by)  If others want to go, we could rent another house.  Dates are December 13 – 20.  Many additional events are occurring all week long, yet the fly-by is Dec. 17, 2003 at 10:17 AM.  Nags Head is five miles from Kitty Hawk. 

New Business

·         Marilynn gave a presentation on aviation and 99s and donated her honorarium of $25 to the Alice Jackson Scholarship. 

·         Dana Rogers is planning to create a poster display booth to showcase our chapter at the OSU Airport Open House on June 14, 2003.  The Open House is from 8AM – 4 PM.  Volunteers to staff the booth are needed.  Let Dana know if you are interested.  Marilynn will be assisting.

·         Janie has agreed to take over the Ohio State Sales Tax Form to continue our not for profit status.

·         Paula moved and Marjorie seconded that Dana be authorized to purchase International 99 brochures for $25.  Motion approved.

·         Terri is planning for us to attend different airshows this summer.  See her for more information.  Examples include Blue Ash, KY Air Show and Cleveland, OH Air Show

·         Dayton Air Show:  The Dayton International Pavilion for Wright Brothers is in need of volunteers for 4 hour shifts.  This comes with free admission to the show and  a parking pass.  Email Janet Banard for more information.  JABBARNARD@earthlink.net

Wendy moved that the meeting be adjourned, Charma seconded, and the meeting was adjourned.
