Up, Up, and Away
Terri Vrbancic flew in solid IFR conditions for the first time this month. She also attended an aerobatic judges school in Ann Arbor in April.
Joanne Austin flew commercially to Santa Fe, NM, on April 1st. Also, since Glenn Sproat’s Mooney is in the air again, Joanne and he flew to EYE in north Indianapolis with 4 other airplanes for brunch on Sat., May 8. And on May 9, Mother’s Day, they flew to Huntington, WV, to visit Joanne’s son.
Dana flew in a twin-engine Grumman Cougar from Oakland-Troy to City Airport, in Michigan. Friend Juan Haygood allowed Dana to fly the plane for about 15 minutes. He also let her log some time in his single-engine Cheetah, as they flew from City Airport to Pontiac to fuel up for the flower drop over Bessie Coleman’s grave. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, so they were not able to make the flight to Chicago for the drop. (Nor was the flower drop actually able to take place at all, due to the weather.)
