Up, Up, and Away

Joann Austin flew commercially to Santa Fe, NM in April for the Air Force. Beautiful flight into Albuquerque

Jann Bowne used her new autopilot when she flew by herself (first time alone) to Alton, IL (St. Louis Regional Airport) to visit her son and daughter-in-law. She also practiced some approaches in that area with her son as the instructor.

Janie and Woody have done some local flying. Janie flew commercial to Florida and drove back in a Corvette.

Connie and Ray Copeland flew to Toledo for lunch with visitors from Holland.

Paula and Hal flew to Wooster, OH to have Sunday lunch with Paula’s father, Paul, and his friend, Marilynn. Their favorite destination is The Barn. (Fuel prices weren’t too bad there at Wayne Co.!)

Marilynn Miller, Mary Biller, Paula Rumbaugh, and Marjorie Anderson attended the Kansas City Section Meeting. Scioto Valley won the attendance award and Marilynn won the Governor’s Service Award..

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Marjorie Anderson.

Attendance: Marilynn Miller, Marjorie Anderson, Constance Copeland, Janie McIntire, Jann Bowne, Myra Jamison, Paula Rumbaugh, Paula Hook, Abby Rice, Jo-Ann Prater, Mary Biller.

Minutes of Previous Meeting: Minutes of the April meeting were published in the May newsletter. Corrections to the minutes: For the Mid-Winter Meeting, Paula Hook accompanied the Three Rivers Chapter but it was hosted by the Chicago Chapter. Also, the Chicago Chapter may host the 2009 International Convention. Minutes stand approved as corrected.

Treasurer’s Report:  The Treasurer's Report stands approved as read by Charma Huddy.

Report of Standing Committees:

A.  Airmarking Committee:

• Jo-Ann Prater will ask the airport manager at Coshocton airport if we could paint a compass rose there next spring.

• Still planning to paint compass rose at Angel Fire, NM in September 2007.

B. It was suggested that we make one scrapbook each year or go to digital scrapbook.

C.  Fall 2006 Section Meeting:

• Ray may get goodie bags from Ryan International (now part of Avidyne Corporation ...ed.)
• Betty Huck (current governor) wants to do away with the Chapter Chairman meeting.
• Nametags
       Should contain map of hotel conference rooms and schedule of events.
       Maybe Executive Jet or Netjets could donate lanyards for the nametags.
• We need to be cognizant of special needs menus.
• Marjorie will call hotel and decide on menu.
• Signage – Kansas City donated signs for our use.
• Registration – Lunch was omitted from our registration form; Janie to send revised version to Char for correction.
• Official Count – We need to decide how to handle this (sign-up sheets?). The past few Section Meetings have not used sign up sheets so it has been difficult to know how many people were actually in attendance.
• Goodie Bags
       Janie received quotes on goodie bags and name badges.
       Charma moved that we order the royal gym bags for the 49 1/2s (number to be determined by registration) and the 49 ½ helpers. Myra seconds, all in favor. Motion passed.
       Goodie bags will be natural cotton with a black silkscreen of the International Organization Compass Rose.
       Keep collecting Ohio quarters (we will be reimbursed for them).
• Name badges
       Jo-Ann moved that we go with 4x3” plastic badges. All in favor, motion passed.
       Large print for name tags.
• Scarves – the prototype navy blue scarf with stars was approved.
• Buckeye Candies – need to buy boxes and little candy cups.
• Decorations
       Jann brought in a space shuttle model that she purchased at Hobby Lobby and would like to know if we want to use them for decorations.
       Marilynn making 15 Mars rovers.
• Hospitality
       Connie to find out if Walmart or Kroger will make donations for food or supplies.

Announcements:

1. The Scioto Valley 99s won the attendance award at the Spring Section Meeting in Kansas City.
2. The Governor’s Service Award was given to Marilynn Miller at the Spring Section Meeting. There were eight nominees. Marilynn received a beautiful 99s pendant.
3. Mary Biller received her high performance endorsement.
