Minutes of the Scioto Valley 99s May 14, 2008 meeting
Up, Up, and Away
Jann flew out to Cahokia, Illinois (CPS) to baby-sit for her granddaughter
the week of May 5. She also flew eight Young Eagles at the rally at MRT on May
10.
Fleda Anderson flew with her husband, Bill Reay, in his Grumman Tiger to
Manhattan, Kansas. They will go to Springfield, IL on May 24.
Jann and Paula Hook flew Jann’s Cessna to the North Central Section Meeting in
Osceola, Iowa April 25-27.
Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order by Jann Bowne.
Attendance: Marilynn Miller, Lori Robishaw, Jann Bowne, Gail Dean, Fleda
Anderson, Charma Huddy, Paula Hook, Dawn Valasco, Jo-Ann Prater, Paula Rumbaugh,
Janie McIntire, Mary Biller.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: Marilynn Miller moved to accept the
meeting minutes as published in the newsletter. All were in favor.
Treasurer’s Report: The treasurer’s report was given by Charma.
She paid for the aprons and reimbursed Jo-Ann Prater for the anniversary cake.
Report of Standing Committees:
- Airmarking:
Jo-Ann Prater reported that Mark Mulcahey may approve a compass rose painting
at Bolton Field in the fall.
- Scrapbook:
Marilynn informed the group that she can no longer continue the scrapbook. She
will be moving to Cincinnati soon.
- Nominating:
The ballots were counted and the new officers are:
Chairman - Jann Bowne
Vice Chair - Mary Biller
Secretary - Lori Robishaw
Treasurer - Paula Hook
Section Meeting Report:
- 46 members from 14 Chapters were in attendance
- It was decided there will be two meetings per year
- Fall 2008 meeting will take place October 10-12 in Newark, OH
- Spring 2009 meeting will be in Milwaukee the last weekend of March
- Sold nine aprons (aprons are $17 and mugs are $13). Proceeds will be used
to replenish the scholarship fund.
Old Business:
- Casa Trip:
Sept. 19-21. Please let Jo-Ann Prater know by August 1 if you plan to go.
- Delaware Fly-In: August 16-17
o Will have a display table to give out information and to sell our aprons and
mugs
o Young Eagles are flying kids that day and may require our assistance
o Janie had a few suggestions to raise money for the chapter:
• A raffle – Janie thinks maybe the pilot
of a T-6 based at DLZ would be willing to donate a ride. Or maybe Dick Packer
would be willing to give rides in one of his airplanes.
• Sell bottled water
- EAA Pancake Breakfasts will take place the third Saturday of every month
this summer at Delaware Airport.
- City BBQ Fundraiser – Charma will submit an application for dinner at the
Henderson Avenue location on June 23 or 24. City BBQ will return 25% of the
total bill so plan to bring as many people as you can!
New Business:
- International Vote:
Jann received a letter regarding voting at International. Based on our
membership we can have five votes. Lori suggested we discuss the items that
are to be voted on in June.
- Chairman's Meeting:
As the new chairman, Jann would like to institute a chairman’s meeting to
transition the new officers. The first meeting is scheduled on June 17 at 7
p.m. at Jann’s house.
- Non-Profit Organization Report:
Janie would like to transition the 501(c)(3) report to Paula Hook, the new
treasurer. Also, an audit committee is needed to audit the treasurer.
