Old Business
· Section Meeting: Janie and Marilynn will represent our chapter Nov. 1-2, 2002 in Northern Kentucky. They will be taking the shirts, etc to sell. The business meeting will be held after lunch on Saturday at the Embassy Suites hotel.
· Colorado Compass Rose Update: This event was a lot of fun and very easy to paint. Those who went worked with five 99s from the Pike’s Peak Chapter in Colorado. They learned and assisted as well. Bev Giffin, Pike’s Peak Chapter, is a former Scioto Valley 99 member and invited the Scioto Valley members to come to Colorado and paint the compass rose, which looks great from the air. She and her husband, Walt, were wonderful hosts. Walt took each of us for a ride over the Royal Gorge in his RV4. In three days, we saw the Royal Gorge from the rim, from the valley, and from the air. We also traveled to Colorado Springs to Garden of the Gods and the Air Force Academy. There is always the option for another joint venture with them in the future. We would like to extend our thanks for all the assistance the members of the local EAA chapter gave us in Colorado as well.
· ARC Update: Dottie will be going to the national meeting to finalize plans soon. Dayton is a “definite go”. The Air Race Classic will be held June 21 – 24 and will probably be landing in Dayton June 22 or 23, 2003.
· Hostess Sheet: The sign up sheet for hostesses for 2003 seems to be misplaced. If anyone has this, please bring it to the November meeting.
· The roster was attached to the last newsletter. Please give any changes to Paula.
New Business
· Wendy did a great job on the article in the Newsletter! We look forward to more of these from all of our members.
Myra moved to adjourn the meeting and Terri seconded and so moved.
Meeting adjourned.
Up, Up, and Away
Connie and Ray Copeland flew to Leech Lake, Minnesota for a week of making a road and clearing up property Ray ½ owns. We flew to Cañon City to help paint the compass rose with Marilynn Miller and Marjorie Anderson as passengers or maybe I should say “co-pilots”.
Terri Vrbancic flew a C172 along the coast of the panhandle of Florida and spotted two dolphins playing out in the Gulf.
Respectfully Submitted,
Marjorie Anderson, Secretary
