Up, Up, and Away

Michele Poppino, our newest member, was flying with instructor Aaron Zieber before he left for Iraq. She did her first solo with him on August 10. She is continuing to fly with his friend Kevin Bauer, and had her first solo under his instruction just before she came to our meeting! Congratulations, Michele.

Marjorie Anderson has flown 2.8 hours in the last two weeks, after six years on the ground. We are happy to have her back in the air! She was also treated to a 25-minute Stearman flight at Coshocton and a couple of wingovers. She says “It is so great to once again ‘slip the surly bonds of earth, reach out and touch the face of God.’”

Teresa Freeman passed her checkride on September 6. Congratulations to our newest private pilot!!

Constance and Ray Copeland flew commercial to Japan. A Japanese airline treated them to one half-priced fare to the northern islands and back due to Connie’s birthday. In addition, Connie managed to get four parties in! (Who knew Connie was such a party girl?) She says “we ended up going to or from five airports within Japan. Our guides were primarily young Japanese students and what a good time we had!”

In an email from Kama Denney, she says: “Just wanted to let you know what's going on out here in sunny california! I picked up a contract pilot job with Hewlitt-Packard flying the twin otter and I am lovin it!!!!! Hope everyone is doing well.”

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Marjorie Anderson.

Attendance: Marilynn Miller, Marjorie Anderson, Paula Rumbaugh, Teresa Freeman, Jo-Ann Prater, Janie McIntire, Michele Poppino, Constance Copeland, Mary Biller.

Minutes of Previous Meeting: The minutes of the September meeting were approved as distributed in the newsletter.

Treasurer’s Report:  The Treasure's Report stands approved as read.

Report of Standing Committees:

A.  Airmarking Committee: The Coshocton airport is being repaved and will need a new compass rose. We will considering painting one there in the spring.

B.  Fall 2006 Section Meeting:

The Section Meeting Committee met this month. Items discussed at this meeting:

• Marjorie suggested taking “Save the date” brochures to the Louisville Section Meeting
• Marilynn made a draft program/menu
• A speaker is lined up for the Saturday afternoon education seminar
• Need to get timing down for meals so we can plan Saturday’s events
• Paula Rumbaugh has not received a response from Arnett Howard
• Janie suggested a lunchtime speaker

C.  Membership Committee:  Teresa Freeman has joined the 99s!

Announcements:

1. A planning session is needed for next year.

2. We need to consider officers for next year.
