Minutes of the Scioto Valley 99s October 11, 2006 meeting
Up, Up, and Away
Amy Yersavich flew on Columbus Day to meet Terri Vrbancic and fly in her
beautiful T-Craft. Went to Mt. Victory for lunch and Amy had a bad hand-prop
experience – cut her shin but didn’t need stitches (klutz!). [Those are Amy’s
words, not ours!]
Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order by Myra Jamison.
Attendance: Jann Bowne, Constance Copeland, Janie McIntire, Marilynn
Miller, Paula Hook, Lori Robishaw, Myra Jamison, JoAnn Prater, Charma Huddy,
Paula Rumbaugh, Amy Yersavich, Mary Biller.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: The minutes to the September meeting
stand as published in the newsletter.
Treasurer’s Report: Report read by Charma Huddy.
- Charma still needs to disperse checks to the Mars Institute and make
donation to 99s museum from proceeds of raffle. We would also like to pay for
Pascal Lee’s hotel and airfare.
- Since we have money left over from the Section Meeting we will be making a
donation to the North Central Section.
Report of Standing Committees:
Airmarking:
- JoAnn reported that the compass rose we were planning to paint in Angel
Fire, NM next fall has already been completed by another chapter. We can still
go to La Casa. We will plan the trip to coincide with the Albuquerque Balloon
Festival (3 ½ hour drive to Albuquerque from the Casa). JoAnn would like a
definite count by August 2007. The Casa can sleep 16 people comfortably but
can accommodate 25.
- A compass rose has already been painted at Coshocton airport by another
chapter.
- We will definitely paint one at Delaware County airport in the spring.
- Marilynn Miller will ask Mark Mulcahey if we can paint one at Bolton, and
Lori will ask Doug Hammon if we can paint one at OSU airport.
Scrapbook:
- Scrapbook: Myra is still looking for someone to take over the scrapbook
for our chapter.
Fall 2006 Section Meeting:
- The following Scioto Valley 99s attended the Fall Section meeting in
Columbus, OH as delegates: Myra Jamison, Janie McIntire, Bonnie Miller,
Marilynn Miller, JoAnn Prater, Dana Rogers, Paula Rumbaugh, Amy Yersavich,
Marjorie Anderson, Constance Copeland, Paula Hook, Charma Huddy, Teresa
Freeman, Jann Bowne.
- Paula Hook thanked everyone for all their help with the meeting.
- The FAA presentation and the Mars presentation were fascinating and kept
everyone’s attention.
- Janie received an e-mail from Marcelaine Lewis complimenting us on the
meeting.
- Several good comments were heard by many 99s over the course of the
weekend.
- Received compliments on the goodie bags and their contents (extra bags
will be sold at future section meetings.)
- Table decorations were lovely and fit in nicely with our theme.
- Paula Hook will make a list of what we did at the Section Meeting to help
other chapters estimate their needs for food, supplies, etc. based on
attendance.
- Some things we would do differently next time:
• Add space for tail numbers of airplanes
flying in.
• Add space for guest’s name on registration form.
• Provide phone number for people to call if their travel plans change.
- Thank-you notes need to be sent to the
following people (we will write them at the November meeting):
• JPs:
• Arnett Howard
• Gunnar White (Buckeye Nissan)
• Ron Miller
• 49 ½ helpers
Announcements: None
Unfinished Business: None
New Business:
- Paula Rumbaugh agreed to handle scholarship applications this year. Janie
announced that the applications are due to our chapter administrator on
November 8, 2006 and to Ellen Herring by December 1, 2006.
- Marilynn will look into getting new magnetic name badges for us.
- We will be making cookies again this year to take to the local FBOs and
towers. Please bring them to the Christmas party so we can fill the tins. Mary
and Charma offered to wrap the coffee cans again this year.
- Would anyone be interested in an outing to the tea room in Delaware next
April?
Adjournment: Meeting adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Biller, Secretary
