Up, Up, and Away

Fleda and Bill flew to Parkersburg, West Virginia, for breakfast.

Jann helped with the Youth Aviation Adventure on Saturday, October 12, then flew 13 Boy Scouts for the Young Eagles.

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Jann Bowne after our tour of the Port Columbus tower given by Warren Fields and Rick Chapman.

Attendance: Jann Bowne, Fleda Anderson, Joan Mace, Paula Hook, Mary Biller, Gail Dean, Dawn Valasco, Lori Robishaw

Minutes of Previous Meeting: The minutes of the September meeting were approved as distributed.

Treasurer’s Report:   Paula Hook gave the treasurer’s report.

Report of Standing Committees: 

• Scholarship:
  Paula Rumbaugh reported that the committee is still waiting to hear from Carol Countiss about her proposed scholarship.
• Airmarking:
  Mary Biller is looking into doing Bolton Field for next spring.

Old Business:  

• Fall Section Meeting, October 10-12 in Newark, Ohio.
  • Paula Hook and Jann are going. The chapter will have a sales table and raffle off an AOPA duffle bag. Paula didn’t get the model airplane from the gentleman who offered it at the Delaware Air Show, but said we’ll save it for the Milwaukee Section Meeting next spring.
  • More information about next summer’s International Meeting in Chicago will be conveyed at the meeting. Our chapter’s job is to be in charge of signage, and Paula did some research at Kinko’s about what services are available.

New Business:

• The chapter is looking for meeting hostesses for 2009; a sign-up sheet will go around at the November meeting. Fleda has volunteered for January and the rest are open.

Announcements:

• Lori Robishaw has accepted an appointment from 99s President Susan Larson to serve as International Membership Co-Chair with Sharon Blodinger of the Virginia Chapter.
• Paula will bring the aprons and travel mugs to the November meeting so we can do any holiday shopping for aviation-loving family and friends.
• On Saturday, October 18, a memorial service for Eddie Rickenbacker will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.
